About me

Dennis Catana

I film travel-based challenges — long rides, language immersion, salsa floors in new cities, and trails that ask more than a tourist checklist. This page is the person behind the series: where I’m from, how I move, and what I’m chasing.

35+ countries and counting

Currently based half the year in China and half in my hometown in Canada, but most of that time is on the road. I’m pursuing my dream of: every time I wake up and open the door, I’m in a different backyard.

I’m a pretty damn good salsa dancer

Dance is way more than the movements and the music — it’s literally become my community as I travel the world. The last 12 years of dancing has opened up a world that I can’t imagine being in without.

Languages

Over the last four years I’ve been obsessed with learning Chinese — enough to uproot my life and end up with two home bases. I’ve grown a deep appreciation for the culture, and I want to keep showing that there are more ways to live than the one we’re used to back in the West. Lots of Chinese content is in the works.

Adventures and discomfort

In 2026 alone: running my first marathon, my first thru-hike (250 km), and cycling 1,000 km around Taiwan — years of passion for the outdoors and pushing my body to find its limit. As I’m starting to outgrow typical travel checklists and tourist locations, I’m on a mission to see how far I can go and show what we’re capable of.
